5. Where your data will be stored and how we keep it safe
Your data is stored securely using password-protected and, where possible, encrypted systems with two-step verification. Any paper records are kept in a locked cabinet.
Some of our service providers (such as Wix, Zoom and our email provider) may store or process data outside the UK, for example in the European Economic Area or the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected either because the UK Government has recognised that country as providing adequate protection (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), or because approved safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

-

-
The right to erasure: to ask us to delete your data. This is not absolute. For example, we must keep client records for the period in section 4.
-
The right to restrict processing: to ask us to limit how we use your data, for example while a complaint is resolved.
-
The right to data portability: to receive data you gave us in a structured, machine-readable format.
-
The right to object: to processing based on legitimate interests, and an absolute right to object to direct marketing at any time.
-
The right to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
-
Rights relating to automated decision-making. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
To use any of these rights, contact us at [jade@neya-noka.com]. There is normally no charge. We will respond within one month, which may be extended by up to two further months for complex requests, in which case we will let you know. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. When responding to a request for your data, we will carry out a reasonable and proportionate search.
7. Cookies
Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device.
-
Essential cookies are needed for the website to work, for example to keep forms and payments secure. These do not need your consent.
-
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Where the law allows, some analytics cookies may be used without asking first, and you can opt out at any time through our cookie settings.
-
Marketing or advertising cookies [e.g. the Meta Pixel or Google Ads, if used] are only used if you agree to them through our cookie banner.
You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings link on our website, or through your browser settings.
8. Confidentiality
Everything you share in sessions is treated as strictly confidential in line with the ethical standards of the therapist and client relationship. We will not share information that identifies you with any person, agency or organisation without your consent, except in the limited circumstances below, where the law or professional ethics require it:
-
where there is a serious risk of harm to you or to someone else;
-
where there is a safeguarding concern about a child or a vulnerable adult;
-
where we are required to by a court order or other legal obligation, including laws relating to terrorism or money laundering.
Wherever it is possible and safe to do so, we will talk with you first before sharing anything. As described in section 2, we discuss client work with a clinical supervisor, but only in anonymised form.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal data, please contact first at jade4@neyanoka.net. You can raise a complaint in any way, by email, through our contact form, or by phone, and you do not need to use any particular wording. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, and let you know the outcome.
